M.A. candidate Tyler Campbell in the archives, researching for his thesis.

The M.A. in History provides students with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of history, their understanding of the historians’ craft and responsibilities, and their recognition of the role history plays in today’s society. In addition, since all students must complete and defend a thesis before graduation, this program gives them the opportunity to develop research and writing skills.

The M.A. in History will prepare students for entrance into a Ph.D. program and it will provide for the academic growth of secondary school teachers. Students interested in the professions of law, education, library sciences, public history, international affairs, and public policy, will find in history a valuable and rewarding learning experience.
